Terms of use
Last updated: October 3, 2026
The rules for using the Joya Home (for parents) and Joya Home Kids (for children) applications. By using Joya Home, you accept them.
1. Purpose
These terms govern the use of the Joya Home and Joya Home Kids applications, published by Benjamin Taieb (see the legal notice). Joya Home helps a family organize screen time: full-screen calls, scheduled breaks, the hallway basket, challenges and games, missions, the weekly math test, sweet notes, location, SOS alert and protection.
2. The parent, responsible for the home
- The Joya Home account is reserved for adults. The parent who creates a home declares that they hold parental authority over the children they add to it, or are authorized by the person who does.
- The parent chooses the settings applied to their child's phone (breaks, limits, filter, location, website history, alerts, applications). They are responsible for them, and undertake to explain to their child what the application does and what their parents can see.
- The parent who gives access to another adult (other parent, babysitter, grandparents) remains responsible for it. The parent who shares a child with a second home does so with the agreement of the other parent, who types in the code themselves.
- The “visiting friends” QR code applies the home's rules to another child's phone: the parent undertakes to obtain the agreement of that child's parents.
3. Family use
Joya Home is designed for a family and its minor children. It is forbidden to use it to monitor an adult, or to install Joya Home Kids on someone's phone without their knowledge. Any use contrary to the law, in particular to respect for privacy, is forbidden.
4. Accounts and codes
Your credentials are personal: do not share them. The codes used to join a home are limited-use and expire (7 days for a child, a parent or a second home, 12 hours at most for a sitter, midnight for visiting friends). Let us know of any suspicious use. We will never ask you for your password.
5. Free trial and subscription
- Free trial: when you create your home, all features are unlocked free of charge for 7 days, with no payment and no commitment. The trial is granted only once per person (same email address, same Apple or Google account): deleting and recreating your home does not give you another one. When you subscribe, Apple or Google may also offer you a 7-day free period, under their own rules (once per App Store or Google Play account); you are then only charged at the end of that period, unless you cancel before.
- Prices: one subscription for the whole home, all features included, depending on the number of children (visiting friends don't count), all taxes included:
Prices may vary depending on the country and currency of the store. If you add a child beyond your plan, nothing is cut off: the application offers you the next plan up.
Children Monthly Yearly Up to 3 €5.99 €49.99 4 €7.99 €64.99 5 €9.99 €79.99 6 or more €11.99 €94.99 - One home, one family: the subscription, taken out by a parent, covers the whole home (both parents, all children, sitters). On iPhone, it can be shared with the members of your Apple Family Sharing group. A child with two homes (separated parents) is covered in both as soon as one of them is subscribed. The Joya Home Kids application is free.
- The subscription is taken out in the parent application, paid and managed through your App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google) account, under their terms.
- Automatic renewal: the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (month or year), at the same price, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it expires.
- Cancellation: from your account's subscription settings — on iPhone, Settings › your name › Subscriptions; on Android, Google Play › your profile › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
- Deleting the application or your Joya Home account does not cancel the subscription: remember to do so from your store.
- At the end of the trial or subscription, Joya Home's features stop until you subscribe again; your children's phones are never blocked as a result: they become free again. Your data stays in the home as long as you don't delete your account (subject to the automatic deletions described in the privacy policy).
- Refund requests follow the rules of Apple or Google, who collect the payment.
- Any price change will be announced to you in advance, by the store, under its rules.
6. What Joya Home does — and its limits
We prefer to be honest about what the technology allows:
- Blocking depends on the phone's permissions. On iPhone, breaks, per-app limits and the filter rely on Apple's Screen Time, which the parent authorizes. On Android, they rely on permissions (accessibility, display over other applications, device administrator). If a permission is withdrawn, protection stops: Joya Home then warns the parent as soon as it detects it, but cannot prevent it in every case.
- Some features only exist on one platform, because the system allows it or not: website history, content alerts, time per app, approval of each new app and safe search on Android; blocking in-app purchases and the family break on a parent's phone on iPhone.
- On iPhone, the website filter is Apple's. On Android, the filter, safe search and history cover the most common browsers, not all of them; private browsing or an uncommon browser may escape them.
- Content alerts (Android) rely on word lists: they may give false alerts and miss worrying messages.
- The hallway basket depends on the phone's NFC; on iPhone, the child opens the application before putting their phone down. A QR code serves as a backup.
- Location, trips and the SOS alert's location depend on GPS, the network and the phone's permission; they may be inaccurate or delayed.
- Notifications go through Apple and Google; their delivery time does not depend on us.
- Joya Home is neither an emergency service nor a safety device. The “Alert my parents” button notifies the adults of the home, not the emergency services; it does not replace the presence and attention of an adult. In case of danger, call the emergency services (112 in Europe): the “Emergency” button in the child's application dials their country's number.
7. Your commitments
You undertake to provide accurate information, not to attempt to circumvent, disrupt or misuse the service, not to access another family's data, and to respect the other members of your home.
8. Availability and liability
We do our best to keep Joya Home running continuously, without being able to guarantee it without interruption (maintenance, outage, network, operating system update, withdrawal of a permission). We cannot be held liable for circumvention made possible by tampering with the phone, a modified (“rooted” or “jailbroken”) phone or the withdrawal of a permission, nor for educational decisions made within the family. Nothing in these terms limits the rights granted to you by law as a consumer.
9. Personal data
What we collect, why and for how long: see the privacy policy.
10. Account deletion and end of service
You can delete your account at any time in the application (Settings › My account › “Delete my account permanently”) or by email: see Delete my account. If you are the last parent of the home, the whole home is deleted. We may suspend an account in the event of a serious breach of these terms, after notifying you except in an emergency.
11. Intellectual property
The applications, the Joya Home brand, the logos, the games and the texts are protected. You receive a personal, non-exclusive right to use the applications for the intended family use, nothing more.
12. Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top of the page is authoritative. In the event of a significant change, we will inform you before it takes effect.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, please write to us first at [email protected]. You may also use, free of charge, the consumer mediator indicated in the legal notice. Failing agreement, the competent courts are determined according to the ordinary rules of law; if you are a consumer, you may bring the matter before the court of your place of residence.
